Missouri Tax Facts

MO Income Tax:

Individual income is taxed across ten tax brackets at ten graduated tax rates.

  • 1.5% for the first $1,000 of taxable income
  • 2% for taxable incomes between $1,001 and $2,000
  • 2.5% for taxable incomes between $2,001 and $3,000
  • 3% for taxable incomes between $3,001 and $4,000
  • 3.5% for taxable incomes between $4,001 and $5,000
  • 4% for taxable incomes between $5,001 and $6,000
  • 4.5% for taxable incomes between $6,001 and $7,000
  • 5% for taxable incomes between $7,001 and $8,000
  • 5.5% for taxable incomes between $8,001 and $9,000
  • 6% for taxable incomes $9,001 and above

MO Sales Tax:

Missouri has a sales tax rate of 4.225% for most items. Additional local levies may apply based on county and city sales regulations.

MO Sales Tax Holiday:

Missouri holds two annual sales tax holidays. During these holidays, certain items are exempt from Missouri sales tax. However, the MO consumer will only receive the tax exemption if a specific total spending limit is met.
